Good to jam on: A beach
Meet the Louisiana-bred, mastermind cousins Reese Donohue and Christopher Prudhomme behind the ethereal sounds of Painted Palms. I'm pretty surprised these two haven't blown up yet despite their sole release of a 5-song EP titled Canopy, which was compiled together through internet exchanges from two separate states, because they are highly jammable in my book. With Donohue finishing up college in California and Prudhomme remaining in Louisiana, the two of them had only put together the one track on the EP titled, "Falling Asleep" in the same room.
While today's feature remix of Asobi Seksu's original single "Trails" can't be found on the EP, it just might be my favorite production of the duo. After stumbling upon it through Grooveshark and keeping it on solid repeat for a number of weeks, I was as happy as a little babe on Christmas day to find that every other track on their EP was just as jammable as the remix in their own special way. So you know what that means. Your homework is not done with just today's feature. You've got to check out the rest at the bottom of this post! I want to give recommendations, but I find them all so appealing in completely different aspects which are unique to themselves. Although I will say, their live performance of "Canopy" on KEXP makes me a bit giddy inside because you can see the happiness of their production written all over their faces, and seeing that is pretty darn priceless if ya ask me. Help yourself to a free download of today's feature offered from Soundcloud down below! :)
