Eliza Doolittle- Pack Up

Jam:  Pack Up
Good to jam when:  You're feeling down

Damn. Why isn't this chick more known? She's young with an amazing voice and somehow finds a way to put an old-school sounding mo-townesque vibe throughout the chorus. For an even catchier tune that makes it clear that this chick should, and will, be on everyone's radio, TV, and iPod soon to come, listen to her song titled, "Skinny Genes". And last, but most undoubtedly not least, realize her full vocal potential and chill out for a night in, drink some wine, and listen to "Piano Song".

Iron & Wine- Half Moon

Jam: Half Moon
Good to jam when: Sleepy

Needing a midnight doozer?  Because good ol' Sam Beam is bringing the lullaby back. If you're a fan of Iron & Wine's calming, folky vibes, check out their new album "Kiss Each Other Clean" released yesterday for a progressive spin on Iron & Wine's typical sound. While you'll normally find several layers of folky sounds with more focus on achieving complexity mixed with harmonic voices, the main man, Sam Beam, said his focus for this album was aimed towards creating a simple album that anyone can sing along to.  Another good one is his song titled, "Tree By the River," which lyrically reminisces on meaningful memories between old loves.  Beam joked how in this song he wanted to use lyrics that people can add their own meaning to to add depth, and not just simply ones that reminisce on "eating french fries together," which to two people can bring back a lot, but to an audience, it may only bring a familiar itching for a classic order at Mickey D's.

Toro Y Moi - Blessa

Jam:  Blessa
Good to jam when: in a daze, cookin', workin', readin', or groovin'!

Cannot. Stop. Listening to this track! ! ! Definitely a cool and relatively new band composed of 3 buddies from college that you need to check out if you dig this song.  The psychedelic music video refused to allow me to post it on the site, but fortunately you can watch it here.  The trio released an album of goodness in 2010, under the new hip genre titled "chillwave," which is music that includes "heavy use of effects processing, synthesizers, looping, sampling, and heavily filtered vocals with simple melodic lines." (Thanks WikiP!).  On top of the good noises, cool video, and chiller genre title, Toro Y Moi completes its "jammable-ness" by titling their latest album "Causers of This."  All kinds of worthy confidence rides in the name and I am lovin' it!

Bibio- Lovers' Carvings

Jam: Lovers' Carvings
Good to jam when: In a good mood

I guess I'm a little behind on discovering this golden artist, but better late than never.  Be sure to give this song an extra minute when you first listen because it tends to start out slow, casually creeping up on you and secretly drawing you in. About a minute and a half in, the beat finally sets in, gets your head boppin', and eventually you will be singing it for the rest of the day. Play this one on a sunny morning after awaking from your twisted slumber, open up a window, and it will undoubtedly put you in a good mood for the remainder of your day. Very catchy and extremely jammable.
